Shields are a type of weapon in Ashes of Creation.[2]

  • Shields in the MMORPG grant a static defense/damage mitigation value.[3]
  • Shields may also offer additional value/block chances on a directional basis.[3]
  • Shields cannot be dual wielded.[4][5]

Shield abilities

Absorption Field Absorption Field.png Tank A field of absorption.[6]
Aegis Aegis New Icon.png Tank Instantly dispels all negative effects on the caster, then creates a protective dome behind the tank for 15 seconds, transferring 50% of all damage received by targets within the area to the tank instead. All targets within the cone also receive increased status effect resistance for the duration.[7]
Barrier Barrier.png Cleric Sacrifice 25% of your maximum health to place a health shield on target ally for 10 seconds. Does not stack.[8][9]
Bulwark Bulwark Icon.jpg Tank Bash enemies in front of you twice. The second attack temporarily increases block chance. You must have a shield equipped to block.[10][11][12][13]
Shell Shield.png Mage Create a protective magical shell[14] around yourself that absorbs a large amount of damage before breaking.[15][16]

Active blocking
